Not only a marina but a fun place to go on a hunt for different sculptures for free. Some you can see from the street. Others you have to park on the side of the street or in parking area nearby and walk (not far) to see. You can tell where they are by the paths created by others. Some areas have no trespassing signs posted so be aware of that. Otherwise, go and check it out and you'll find something interesting. The hardest one to find was the Knights in the Woods. But Google can get you there if you search for the names of the different sculptures. Unfortunately, I didn't have service in the area and I had only Googled a couple prior to arriving. So, the next hardest one which I kept passing up, was the Brontosaurus. It's on the opposite side of the street from the other dinosaurs down a bit once you pass the T-Rex. Look for the path into the Woods. Happy hunting.
Nice marina. We were out riding the bike and tripped across the place. They’ve got a little store to get the essentials for a day on the water but I didn’t see a restaurant. Very clean and well maintained. They have a service to pull your boat out of storage and put it back when your done. There a little antique motor collection which was interesting. Lots of sea themed statues.
Beautiful marina to visit! Even if you don't go boating, this is worth a stop for all of the interesting sculptures and fountains along the property. Plus, check out Barber's lovely collection of restored vintage outboard prop motors!
Okay, I know this place claims to be a public marina.
But I suspect it's something else.
I mean, it's beautiful. It has a long, manicured drive into it. Elegant fountain. Sculpture abounds. Dinosaurs guard the entry. Large, gleaming white buildings. A helipad.
Clearly, it's the secret headquarters of a James Bond supervillain!
I couldn't find the secret underground mansion, missile silos, or the submarine pens.
But I know they're there. They must be.
Calling 007!
Barber Marina is a massive complex with numerous attractions including dinosaurs in the woods, the Lady in the Lake, Bamahenge, knights in armor, and the marina itself.
Yes, the Lady in the Lake is back...freshly restored!!
I'm not a boater, but it appears that the marina is kept in top condition. There's a lot of new construction going on, too. Very impressive visit and I hope to return when boating season kicks off.
We can't say enough good things about our haul- out experience at Barber Marina. This place is top notch! Whether you want to work on your boat yourself or hire professionals they will help you with it all. Reasonable rates ($1 per foot per day). We have a 41' Catamaran with a 24' beam and they hauled us out with their smallest lift. We did major amount of work and were there for 6 weeks. They sandblasted the bottom for us, we patched primered and painted it. We compounded and waxed it. Logan and Wesley built a beautiful custom solar arch for our panels and mounted it, we wired it up. Matt, the manager and Pete were a huge help and wealth of knowledge. Hannah keeps their store well stocked with lots of products for repairs from paint and tape to wax and buffing pads, spare parts beer and snacks. They have an outboard maintenance center and Tim knows a lot about Garmin and every other electronics system on boats. Every one is courteous and professional. Bathrooms and facilities always clean, boatyard is immaculate, grounds are landscaped. It truly made the repair experience much more pleasurable. We would highly recommend them and consider sailing back, out of our way for the next haul-out.
I've visited numerous marinas across the country, and this one truly stands out. It's incredibly beautiful and impeccably clean. They spare no expense in maintaining it at this optimal level.
I was a repeat customer at the service department but not any more. They replaced a transducer for the fish finder and two months later it fell off due to faulty installation. How do I know? It only had one screw left in the mount. They didn't even look at it and said it was due to hitting something. Not so! Why only one screw? They will take your money and not stand behind their work. Do not trust them.
